About Us

Who we are as a couple?  This is always interesting, over the years we have our individual identities and then as a couple those identities get lost and change and grow together.
A bit of history first, we have been a couple since 1999.  We have traveled the world thanks to being cyclist and our work in the sport.  We have been successful together in life and work, and we push each other to achieve and accomplish more.

So now starts the new phase of life! Sailing!! Something we can learn together and experience together, while we continue to grow and adventure.

For us Cycling has been our lives and what brought us together as a couple.  The sport has been our work, our life and our main catalyst for adventure.  But as time has passed, we wanted to work on something new, something to do together that is a different journey.   That’s how we came up with sailing.

Meet Mike

I am the instigator of many of our adventures.  I like new challenges and setting my mind on something and going after it.  For me sailing came as a much needed new chapter.  I have been working in cycling for 20 years and felt like I was becoming jaded.  Watched some Ex-Pat shows and got the bug.  Do I want to quit everything and sail into the horizon?  Probably not.  Sure it sounds romantic, but I would get bored.

My close friends that know me, always point out how intense, or high strung I am.  Sailing and being on the water is the opposite for me, I actual find myself catching my breath.

Meet Lauren

My story is a bit different.  I started cycling at the age of 12 and was hooked.  It opened so many doors for me and shaped who I am.  By the time I was 16, I was traveling the world racing for Team USA.  The pinnacle of my career was competing in the 2012 London Olympic Games and bringing home a Silver Medal in cycling.

I was dragged into this sailing adventure by Mike, but have quickly learned to love it.  I am happiest at the beach and warm weather, making it easy to convince me!  I have always liked new challenges, and being competitive.  Now we have one more thing we can obsess over, to see who sails best or fastest 😉

Meet London

London beagle/walker hound mix.  She is a rescue that we got after the 2012 Olympics.  She was born June of 2012, and we have had her since she was 6 weeks old.  London in a very short time has become a major part of our lives and family.  She follows our mood; playful, relaxed, chill, adventurous, hiking, runner, all of it.  So of course we need to bring her along and turn her into a boat dog!

    Hey Guys,
Tina and I are buying FP 40 and we wanted to charter and test sail before going into contract. We started surfing youtube to find some videos and found yours and then realized The boat Tina is booking out of St Petersburg is your boat. I watched how you did a lot of the work on the boat yourself when she arrived so my big question when we charter is, will it stay a float? LOL
I would love to talk to you guys for some advice on what to keep and what not to keep when we order, but most of all how much do you love sailing the Lucia.
I hope you guys are having a great time sailing her.
    Mike
